Dr Zhaojie Ju is a Senior Lecturer in Intelligent Systems and Biomedical Robotics group, in the School of Computing, University of Portsmouth. He previously held research appointments in the Department of Computer Science in University College London, and School of Creative Technologies in University of Portsmouth, UK.
He received BSc in Automatic Control and MSc in Intelligent Robotics both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. He received his PhD in the University of Portsmouth, UK. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Member of IET.
His research interests are in machine intelligence, robot learning, pattern recognition and their applications in robotic/prosthetic hand control and human-robot interaction. He has designed a unified framework for human hand motion recognition including grasps and in-hand manipulations and algorithms in order to learn the human hand manipulation skills to control multifingered robotic hands and prosthetic hands. He has been involved various projects supported by University and Overseas Research Students Award, EPSRC, HEIF4, European FP7, etc.
